The Scoop
We love your apples! Picking and making cider has allowed us to have good and meaningful work for our crews for the last 10 years and the Bay City Cider has been a fall treat in many homes.
Given present global circumstances, apple picking will look a lot different this year. We are simplifying our picking and pressing process due to Covid health considerations- meaning we will have a smaller apple picking crew that is going to go out and pick and therefore fewer trees.
If you have a tree full of perfect apples (meaning the apples are still on the tree, the tree is no larger that 15 feet, there is a clear entry and exit into your yard with no dogs present) then please fill out this form to let us know what you have (even if we've already picked from you before!) and when they will be ready. Please note, we do not pick crab apple trees!

Pick your own? Why not?!
If you're up for it, we'll accept your hand picked apples! A good cider apple is one that you would be ok eating yourself. A few marks and bug bites on it are totally ok, but rotten and mushy apples are totally not ok! If you want to pick your own apples to donate to our social enterprise efforts this is how you can do it safely:
And - we would still love to give you back a jug of juice in return for your apples that either you pick or we pick! We usually deliver "Thank you cider" in mid to late October!
- Sanitize your hands and wash the bin you are picking into.
- Pick from the tree only. We cannot accept windfall (apples that have fallen and touched the ground). It’s normal for perfectly good apples to fall while you are picking and if this is the case, please consider putting down a clean sheet or tarp (if tarp, it must be clean and it must ALWAYS be the same side up to the sky) to catch them before they hit the ground.
- If you are using a ladder to pick the apples up high be super careful and to move it, you need to move it by the sides, not the rungs. Holding the ladder by the rungs can contaminate your hands with whatever was on your shoes.
- Sometimes the stars don't align, so if you can't drop them off right away store them in a cool place, away from animals and off the ground (table, pallet), until you drop them off to us.
- Drop them off at 450 Fort William Road or at Lillie Street Urban Farm (125 Lillie St S). Be sure to include your name, address, contact and the day the apples were picked. We can accept apples between 9am-4pm Monday - Wednesday.
