Michaela BohunickyMichaela’s passion for food began while studying nutrition at university, and evolved when she took time off to farm in Australia and New Zealand. This, along with discovering the concept of food sovereignty, lit a pretty wicked fire in her belly. She spent the rest of her undergrad getting involved in various projects aimed at strengthening the campus’ and city’s local food systems. Born and raised in Winnipeg, Michaela also appreciates the uniqueness of growing food in a place with four distinct seasons. This September, she moved to Sudbury to complete an internship to become a registered dietitian. As part of this internship, she gets to spend four weeks with Roots to Harvest, including Registered Dietitian Kim McGibbon. She’s as eager as ever to continue exploring the relationship between food and people with the amazing Roots to Harvest team. In her spare time, she plays ultimate frisbee, hikes and misses no opportunity to have an informal dance party.
