Nancy came to Thunder Bay in 2004 to get a teaching degree from Lakehead University. Originally from Toronto, she has a degree in English and Creative Writing from Concordia University in Montreal, and spent a few years in Jasper, Alberta before moving here. She has worked in various jobs in Thunder Bay: research intern with the Thunder Bay Symphony; ticket seller at a local ski hill; supply teacher; employment counsellor; cook for tree planters; and as a writer, editor and photographer for publications including Superior Outdoors and The Walleye. Nancy was one of the founders of the Young Professionals Network of Thunder Bay, now Shift. She has enjoyed volunteering with Camp Quality, Leadership Thunder Bay and the Shelter House. Nancy currently works in External Relations with Parks Canada. She is married to a native of Nolalu, and they have two young daughters. Her interests include reading, writing, hearing people's stories, crafts, traveling, camping, and spending time outside with her family. She is very excited to be on the board for Roots to Harvest and looks forward to being involved in all aspects of the organization.
