Pam Tallon

Picture
For those who know Pam, they will be quick to point out that she has always been an avid supporter of local, sustainable, and environmental initiatives.  Originally from Thunder Bay, Pam returned after completing a degree in Microbiology with a minor in Zoology from Guelph and continued on to complete a Masters degree in Biology (environmental microbiology) as well as an MBA.  Pam's day-job is with the Northern Ontario School of Medicine managing the medical research labs, and her evenings are filled with operating an online business alongside her passion: experimenting in sustainable urban 365day “farming” in the north, in hopes of educating and inspiring others that they too can grow food, even inside a snowy northern city (http://www.growingnorth.ca).  Pam is the last person who would consider herself an expert in gardens, but she strongly believes that there are few things as important as sustainable food, and that pairing this with youth education and employment is genius. Food is something everyone can do, and seeing a local group give that belief to our youth, to give them that initiative and self confidence is powerful.
