Born and raised in northwestern Ontario, Ruthi has returned to her roots to join this season of the SHOW program. After more than 20 years away from this area, there is something that still feels very much like home for her amongst these rocks and trees. She first heard about Roots to Harvest in 2010 when a friend toured her around Thunder Bay and excitedly shared about his work with the Roots youth garden program. Now Ruthi is excited for her chance to learn urban farming skills alongside the SHOW staff and spend her summer on the shores of Lake Superior. Ruthi has worked as a street outreach worker, addictions counsellor, café cook, cow-babysitter, outdoor education instructor, and stay-at-home aunti. When she’s not in her van, Ruthi can be found chasing down poems or wandering barefoot on warm rocks.
