Stuart Oke

Community Grower

Stuart Oke - Community Grower

Stuart is a newcomer to the Roots to Harvest team.  He is a vegetable farmer who has, for the past 8 years, worked his way across the province from Thunder Bay to Kingston and several places in between; working on vegetable market gardens and mixed livestock operations throughout. He has worked in variety of farm positions including:  apprentice, farm worker, field and harvest manager and general farm operator and is excited to bring his experience to the new Volunteer Pool site on Martha St. Stuart will also be overseeing the Roots to Harvest community garden project on Fort William First Nation and elsewhere. He is a strong proponent of local farms and local food systems and is an active member of the National Farmer’s Union. He is excited to once again be back in Thunder Bay and looks forward to the coming year and being part of the local food community.
